Hierarchical linkage takes into account the position and importance of surrounding content (see examples below).

Functionality + Link(s)

Another piece of functionality (search) is the point of focus. Reduce the tone. In a case where a link has its own rule – it would inherit the new rule that applies. I.e. See all link at the end

Header + Link

The header is the focal point. Reduce tone.

Focal Point + Link

The “Next on” is the area of focus. Reduce tone.
